Editorial policy
What is measured versus what is written, and the rules that keep the two honest.
Last reviewed
PriceShift separates observation from interpretation, and this page describes where that line sits.
What is observation
A price, a limit, a plan name or a feature flag read directly from a public pricing page, with a stored snapshot and a source link. This is the large majority of what appears on the site, and it is not subject to editorial judgement.
What is interpretation
Guides, the severity assigned to a change, the "this looks like a packaging change rather than a price rise" judgement, and any statement about what a change might cost a reader. This is written by a human, grounded in the tracked data, and dated.
Rules we hold ourselves to
- No affiliate relationships. We take no commission from any vendor tracked here, and we do not sell placements. A vendor cannot pay to influence a change entry or a guide.
- Advertisements are labelled and contained. Ads never appear inside change entries, vendor histories or guide content.
- Vendor announcements are not evidence. If a vendor says it raised prices, we check the pricing page. If they disagree, the pricing page wins and we note the discrepancy.
- Corrections are public. Anything we got wrong is corrected and logged in the changelog, including what was wrong. We do not quietly edit history.
- Uncertainty is stated. Where extraction confidence is low or a figure may not be comparable across regions, the page says so rather than presenting it as settled.
- No sponsored or AI-generated filler. Every guide is written and edited by a person, because a page that exists only to hold a keyword is the thing this site is a reaction to.
How to challenge a record
If a figure looks wrong, send the URL and what you see. We check the live page, and where the site's record is wrong we correct it, note the correction, and explain what caused the extraction failure — that last part is usually the more useful information for other readers.
Funding disclosure
This site is funded by advertising. That is the complete list of revenue sources. There is no sponsorship, no affiliate income, and no paid placement in any dataset or feed.
